Tell us what made you decide to stop working for the man and start working for your self?
Owning a business has always been my plan. Working lots of different jobs was my paid training!
Why do you love/hate skateboarding in Vancouver?
I love that you can roll past the cops 99% of the time without incident. I love that the past few Mayors have publicly supported it. I love how many parks there are. I love how many really awesome people live or have passed through here over the years.
I hate that the last 15yrs of booming development in Vancouver produced nothing but boring, skate stopped, cookie cutter urban architecture. No curves, no angles, no marble or granite or tile. Boo!
You ran skate camps this summer, what was the response? Any plans for events/camps in the winter?
Response was really positive. I had some great instructors helping out and that makes all the difference. Geoff Dermer, Adam Cassidy, Cory Wilson and Nelson Conway did a fantastic job.
You have quite the team, who are they and is there anything in the works for them in the near future?
Nelson Conway, Kyle Desaulniers, AJ McCallister, Mark Johnson, Des Hoostie, Chris Connolly, Nate LaCoste, Corey Klim, Cory Wilson, Jeff Falconer, Adam Cassidy, Spike Jones, Dave Priest, Danny Hagge, Wee Wong, Craig Williams
We’re heading to SF in about a week to start filming and junk. With this many dudes, there’s always something in the works. Its fun.
2 shops in one year any plans for a 3rd?
Its actually back to one in a few weeks time. Without explaining too much, the shop on the Drive feels like home and its where I want to focus my efforts. IE: East Van bitches!!
Can I have your car?
I like turtles.
