A trip to Kamloops, BC was made early this spring to meet up with Matt Berger, our newest Matix representative. At a mere 16 years of age, Matt skates like a grown man and you will be surely seeing more from him throughout the year.
King Shit has released their first issue of their second volume in April of 2010. Our freshest addition to the team, Matt Berger scored himself a spot on the cover of the magazine with a pre-Matix heelflip staring death in the eye. Matt was also recently on a trip to Arizona for the annual Phoenix Am contest where he came out in 8th place. Ian Twa landed himself a nice photo in the Spy Cam feature and has been on a steady program in 2010 that I’m sure you’ll all see more of in the near future. This issues ambush interrogation was none other than Burlington’s Patrick O’Rourke.Pat was recently featured in The Dailey Randoms on crailtap with a mini top five flatground manual video. He’s also heading out to Montreal this month to stay with SBC photographer Geoff Clifford to take care of some business.
Concrete broke into 2010 with their 105th issue. This issue features an interview with local Matix rider, Kevin Wu.Kevin is a full time student as well as holds down the family business, yet still finds time to skate and get great coverage. Concrete used a different approach for Kevin’s interview and combined with the photos, it’s one not to miss. Along with representing Lakai, Pat Tremblay also opened up the Exposure section of this issue with a blunt fakie at an amazing spot in Montreal.
Concretes second installment of 2010 has recently hit the stands where you will find a Supra Dist x Concrete online contest. Search through the magazine and find a blazing heelflip photo of Jay Brownon the subscribe page! Jay was soaking up some California sunshine earlier this year where he was filming and shooting photos. He’s now getting ready for a short trip to Montreal with Pat O’Rourke for a change of scenery. Also in this issue, Concrete’s staff photographer, Brian Caissie made his third annual trip to Barcelona where he grabbed an amazing sequence of Travis Stenger.
Upon flipping threw the new issue of SBC you may notice a great new ad for Mike McDermott’s new pro boardMike just returned to the Green Apple after a short trip to Barcelona to do some filming and shoot some photos. I’m sure you’ll be seeing the outcome of the trip sooner than later. Pat Tremblay is seen raising the roof of a new indoor pool in Montreal.
The Vancouver 2010 Olympics were the basis around the latest issue of Color magazine. I think that everyone in the lower mainland can agree on one thing: the Olympics were one crazy party. Another thing on the crazy note, Derek Swaim had an amazing CMYK sequence. Derek recently got back from a month long trip to China with some friends so be on the look out for him flipping his board around beautiful marble plazas. Seb Labbe has been traveling a lot around the east coast in the past few months. One of the stops was New York City where he got a shot seen in the photo feature of this issue. He has also been down to Miami, Toronto and Montreal filming for his upcoming part in Jeremy Elkin’s new video titled “Elephant Direct.”

Spike Jonze has been at it again, this time training to beat Mike Mo in a game of flat ground S.K.A.T.E. He came up with a never been done kickflip variation that’s breaking physics barriers all over the place. I guess that’s what you have to do when up against Mo!
DVS has also been making some noise with their ams as of late. Matix rider Marty Murawski has moved on up to the official team and you can check out a weekend at Marty’s on the dvs skate website
