Help Skateboarding in the City of Yorkton!

Last Summer the city of Yorkton, SK was hit by a severe flash flood that destroyed a section of the city. In an effort to turn a negative into a positive, the Yorkton Skateboard Club has come up with an excellent idea. They are proposing that the area damaged by the flood be turned into a public park for the all of the citizens of Yorkton to enjoy. The park would include a “catch basin” which would help control water in the event of a heavy rain, a walking trail and green area for everyone to enjoy and a much-needed public cement skateboard park adjacent to the walking trail to solve the long-time problem of not having a legitimate and permanent skate park in their town. The Yorkton Skateboard Club is attempting to raise money for this project through the Aviva Community Fund contest which is dedicated to improving communities in Canada. Cameo Wilson Takes Backyard Jam!

DVS and Stacks rider, Cameo Wilson recently returned to Montreal to attend Empire Sports Backyard Party. Skating with a broken toe obviously didn’t effect Cameo as he took 1st place and 12K home! Looks like Cameo is going to have an awesome Halloween! Congrats Cameo!

Fluid Sports is Canada’s Top Shop

Recently SBC held a contest to discover who was Canada’s top shop. The rules were simple, set up a skateboard deck from start to finish as fast as you can, film it, post it on youtube. When all is said and done, the fastest time belonged to Fluid Sports in Maple Ridge. Congrats guys! You can check out the winning video below and the rest of the entries here.

This Sunday while you all were snowboarding, watching football or frantically hitting refresh, the 13 annual Welcome to Winter contest went down in beautiful Regina. Below are the final results, with home town anti-hero Cory Lakeman taking the win in both the open category and best trick with matix and dvs rider Devin Morrison coming in a close second. Thanks goes out again to Tiki Room crew and Noel for putting on such a killer event. Oh yea, and for those of you wondering what happened to white Akon, he can be seen on this video over at SBC.
